Sustainability Manager, IKEA Canada


As Sustainability Manager for IKEA Canada, Brendan Seale works to integrate sustainability principles into the Canadian retail organization's strategy, operations, products & services, culture, governance, and brand. IKEA’s “People & Planet Positive” strategy aims to inspire and enable millions of people to live a more sustainable life at home, to strive for resource and energy independence, and to take the lead in creating a better life for people and communities affected by its business.

Prior to joining IKEA, Brendan was Sustainability Advisor with The Natural Step Canada providing strategic guidance to clients in a variety of sectors and delivering many TNS training programs including the Level 1 Foundations in Sustainability course and MBA Sustainability Leadership Bootcamp. Brendan has also held a corporate communications role in the mining sector and is an experienced group process facilitator. He holds an MSc in Strategic Leadership towards Sustainability from Blekinge Institute of Technology in Sweden, and a BA in Communication Studies & Multimedia from McMaster University.

In leisure time, Brendan’s feet keep the company of soccer shoes, bicycle pedals, ski boots, and infectious beats.
