Message from our Executive Director, Chad Park

It's all happening so fast now. Paris, Davos, GLOBE in Vancouver – even a First Ministers' meeting on climate - these are only a few of the events signaling that the sustainability transition is happening now. The Natural Step is pleased to update you on our leadership contribution to help move international, national and provincial dialogue and announcements to real action in Canadian businesses and communities.

There is much to celebrate: The Government of Alberta is the newest convening partner in Energy Futures Lab; The Alberta Real Estate Foundation has announced financial and program support for the EFL to help engage Albertans in the emerging energy transition dialogue; the Natural Capital Lab is ramping up with new partners and commitments; and IMPACT! continues to snowball in its efforts to mobilize youth sustainability leadership across Canada.

These are exciting times. And we are thrilled you are on the journey with us.

Energy Futures Lab at Globe: Is oil a dirty word?

The conversation isn't about whether we need a sustainable future, it's about how we get there. Catch TNSC Executive Director, Chad Park, at Walrus Talks GLOBE 2016 talking about how we need to move beyond divisive dialogues and shift our approach to the energy transition.

"The path to reconciling competing visions of our
energy future is not negotiation, it's co-creation"

News from the Energy Futures Lab

We are thrilled to announce the newest Energy Futures Lab convening partner, the Government of Alberta. Read more about it here.

We are also pleased to announce that the Alberta Real Estate Foundation is supporting the Lab in its work to foster energy literacy across Alberta. Thanks to the generous support of AREF, EFL's Newtonian Shift energy simulation game will be played in communities across Alberta over the course of 2016. Learn more about the Newtonian Shift here.

News from the Natural Capital Lab

Since we first introduced you to the Natural Capital Lab, we have been working with an international working group on an exciting initiative that has the potential to transform the way business incorporates natural capital into decision-making. Read more to find out about our work with the Natural Capital Coalition.

Making an IMPACT! Across Canada

The IMPACT! team is gearing up to return to Sudbury April 29 - May 1 to deliver our award winning youth leadership training. Applications close April 10th and bursaries are available. Our 1200+ alumni network is made up of young leaders who are educators, social entrepreneurs, volunteers, community builders, and so much more. One of these inspiring doers is Andrew Hicks, a talented furniture designer using reclaimed materials to build household objects. Read his story of sustainability here.
