Mike Morrice

Title:
Founder and Executive Director, Sustainability CoLab; Founder, Sustainable Waterloo Region; Ashoka Fellow

Mike founded Sustainable Waterloo Region (SWR) while completing his studies at Wilfrid Laurier University, and served as the organization's Executive Director until January 2014. In response to global interest in replicating the success of SWR's flagship program, the Regional Carbon Initiative, Mike founded and now leads Sustainability CoLab, a network that supports communities across Ontario in convening local networks that enable businesses to set and achieve targets to reduce their carbon impact.

Named an Ashoka Fellow in 2012, Mike is one of 43 Canadians within a global community of leading social entrepreneurs, each with a new ‘knock-out’ idea and high potential to scale their impact. Mike is also a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, has been selected by The Waterloo Region Record as one of Waterloo Region’s inaugural 40 Under 40, and was recognized as Young Alumnus of the Year and Young Entrepreneur of the Year by WLU’s Alumni Association and the Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce, respectively.
